The early Beetles and Buses and their alike used a rear transmission to match their rear mounted engines. Volkswagen transmissions mounted in the rear are all within this 005 caterogy. This includes the transmissions, their drive shafts, their sub shafts, and vacuum plates, and their related springs torsion arms. After Voklkswagen switched to primarily front wheel drive the transmission parts were changed to category 004.
